BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Debris that caught on fire at the Borough Hall station delayed four subway lines during Tuesday's morning commute.

Just before 9 a.m. MTA officials Tweeted that they were having northbound 5 trains run on the 2 line from Nevins Street to 149th Street-Grand Concourse because FDNY was investigating the source of smoke at the Borough Hall station on Court street. The service change would cause delays on the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains, officials said.

The fire was extinguished quickly, with officials telling riders FDNY had it under control by about 9:10 a.m.
