BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Longtime neighborhood favorite Henry's End has closed the doors at 44 Henry St. after 46 years in the space, but only to move down the block.

The award-winning new American restaurant announced earlier this year that it would be switching to a new location rather than closing indefinitely as the 44 Henry St. building undergoes renovations.

"The things that make Henry’s End special, the seasonally driven food, the award-winning wine program, the annual game festival, and most importantly, the staff will not change," an announcement on the restaurant's website read at the time.

Owners closed down 44 Henry St. at the end of March and said the new spot, down the block at 72 Henry St., would be ready in a few months.

And, as of that last weekend, that day has finally come, owners told Patch.

Henry's End's new space — found on the corner of Orange Street instead of its old spot between Cranberry and Middagh streets — opened for the first time last weekend.

Owner Mark Lahm said the only thing the business is waiting for is its new liquor license, but that all other food and drink are up and running.

Sociale, the restaurant that was in the 72 Henry St. spot before Henry's End moved in, will open in its new spot at 320 Court Street in June. The Italian restaurant moved out of the Henry Street space in February.

Henry's End, which has become known for its variety of "wild game" and other unique meat options, said the new space will not only allow the business to stay open, but also will let the restaurant grow its offerings.

"We are beginning some new traditions, brunch, a new cocktail program, a 20-seat outdoor cafe, along with a small private room for business meetings or celebrations," owners wrote. "We want to thank the neighborhood and the best regular customers a restaurant could ever have for your ongoing support and look forward to continuing to celebrate all the events that you have celebrated with us for these past many years."
