Brooklyn MetroTech Shooter Is Still On The Loose, Cops Say
Cops originally said they caught the man who shot a gun at MetroTech Center last week, but are now looking for a new suspect.

DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — The man who shot a gun near the crowded MetroTech plaza and caused two cops to crash as they rushed to the scene is still out there, police said this week.
Police said they are looking for a hooded man who was caught on newly-released surveillance video firing the gun as he stands in the street in front of 5 MetroTech Center.
The video comes a few days after cops originally said they had found the shooter less than an hour after the shooting, which happened early in the afternoon last Thursday and caused a brief lockdown in the Downtown Brooklyn plaza.

But an NYPD spokesman said Wednesday that the person taken into custody that day was never charged, meaning he likely was found not to be the person who shot the gun.
The real shooter ran away after the incident, police said. A gun from the shooting was found dropped in a trash can near the plaza.

Police also discovered that a person was hurt in the shooting, which they originally thought hadn't injured anyone.
A 27-year-old man who was shot in his lower left buttocks went to the doctor on his own after the shooting and didn't file a police report until later, police said.
The daylight shooting also indirectly hurt three others when police rushing to MetroTech got into a car accident in Clinton Hill on their way.
The two 88th Precinct officers crashed into a civilian's car at Dekalb and Clinton avenues, flipping the civilian's car onto its side. The officers and the person in the other car were both hurt in the crash with non-life threatening injuries.
