Check Out Dekalb Market Hall's Two New Vendors

A Thai and Chinese outpost and an all-kosher falafel and hummus eatery have joined the food hall.

DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — A Thai and Chinese stall and an all-kosher falafel spot have joined Dekalb Market Hall's list of vendors, the food hall announced this week.

Thank You Come Again, run by the owner of a Jersey City restaurant, will bring its classic soup dumplings and other Thai and Chinese staples to the market hall and Brooklyn Hummus will feature Israeli cuisine.

The two new eateries join the more than 40 local and regional vendors that have joined the market hall since it was opened by founder Anna Castellani in 2017. Most recently the food hall, found on Albee Square West, added an events venue and speakeasy style bar to its mix.

The 7,500-square-foot venue called Dekalb Stage and Understudy, the bar accessed by a secret door in the event space, opened in February.

Thank You Come Again will be run by Toon Lau, a chef who immigrated from Bangkok to New York City in the 1970s. Lau first opened a restaurant in the West Village and now runs Shanghai Best in Jersey City.

The eatery's menu features affordable soup dumplings, fried dumplings and other favorites like barbecue skewers or broad rice noodles.

"Toon leads the kitchen at Thank You Come Again, creating cooked-to-order dishes using quality ingredients with the noodles sourced daily from a proprietary Chinatown purveyor, and fresh, house-made dough for hand-folded dumplings," the food hall said.

The Brooklyn Hummus spot is run by Israeli immigrant Asher Oknin, who immigrated to New York in 1995 after serving in the Israeli military.

"Asher makes every dish to-order, so dips like hummus and msabaha are warm, as typically served in the Levant," Dekalb wrote about the chef.Hummus is served as the star of the show, with customizable toppings."

Oknin's menu includes items like cauliflower poppers, eggplant shakshuka and sabich pita sandwich.
