Cops Crash Rushing To MetroTech Shooting: NYPD
A police car headed to check on a shooting near MetroTech Center got into a car crash with a civilian, officials said.
DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — Two cops crashed into a car which flipped on its side while rushing toward a shooting near the MetroTech plaza in downtown Brooklyn, according to police and video.
The 88th Precinct officers crashed into a civilian's car at Dekalb and Clinton avenues just after 12:30 p.m., police said.
The cops were headed to the MetroTech Center where a 60-year-old man was arrested for firing several shots with a gun cops later found in a trashcan nearby, police said.

New York University tweeted that the shooting occurred near the NYU Tandon School of Engineering at 6 MetroTech.
At least one MetroTech building went on lockdown as police investigated the outdoor plaza off Myrtle and Flatbush avenues, a Chase Bank spokesperson told Patch.

"The suspect has been apprehended and there is no threat to the public," the representative said. "No injuries have been reported."
The officers and the person in the other car were both injured in the crash, FDNY officials said. All of the injuries were non-life threatening.
