Cyclist Knocked Unconscious After Getting Hit In Brooklyn: Cops

A 55-year-old cyclist was sent to the hospital after getting hit at the Concord Street and Flatbush Avenue intersection, officials said.

DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — A cyclist was knocked unconscious Friday morning after getting hit by a car in Downtown Brooklyn, officials said.

The 55-year-old had been riding his bike on Concord Street just before 9 a.m. when he was hit by a sedan at the Flatbush Avenue Extension intersection, police said. Officers who rushed to help the cyclist found him unconscious and unresponsive with injuries to his head, police said.

Emergency responders rushed him to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he is now in stable condition.

The driver of the car stayed on the scene of the accident. There were no arrests or summonses given out, police said.

The Collision Investigation Squad was initially called to look into the accident, but cancelled their investigation after they found out the man was in stable condition at the hospital, police said. The CIS is only called in to investigate when there are life-threatening injuries from a crash.
