DUMBO Priciest Brooklyn Neighborhood With Fort Greene On The Rise

A report found that DUMBO was the most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn, but Fort Greene had the biggest increase in home prices.

DUMBO, NY — DUMBO remains the most expensive neighborhood for real estate in Brooklyn, but Fort Greene had the biggest increase in sale prices so far this year, a new report found.

PropertyShark's quarterly survey of the city's real estate market found that DUMBO was still the only neighborhood outside of Manhattanto crack the top ten most expensive neighborhood list with a median sale price of $1.9 million, even though prices dipped 13 percent year-over-year.

The report found that Tribeca homes, with a median sale price of $3.5 million, were still the priciest in the city, but the biggest surge so far this year was in Fort Greene.

Fort Greene had a 131 percent increase in median sale prices year-over-year, currently just under $1.3 million, which PropertyShark attributed to a crop of new luxury developments in the area. This includes 59 S. Elliot Place which had the most expensive transaction in the neighborhood.

Other Brooklyn spots like Greenpoint saw an increase, climbing 39 positions to the 12th priciest area with a median sale price of more than $1.3 million. Carroll Gardens and Park Slope both had increases year-over-year, but Gowanus, Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill decreased, the report found.
