DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — A track fire near a busy Downtown Brooklyn subway station stalled service during Monday's evening rush hour with passengers reporting an F train was ridden through the middle of a "ball of fire."

The blaze erupted between Jay Street/MetroTech and Bergen Street stations around 4:30 p.m., according to the MTA. It delayed service on the northbound G and F lines, the officials said.

At least one train seemed to make it through the flames before emergency responders could get to the fire.
