Giant 2-Floor Food Hall Coming To DUMBO's Empire Stores

DUMBO, NY — A giant, two-floor food hall with a rooftop area plans to open at the Empire Stores on DUMBO's waterfront later this year, owners announced.

Time Out Group, the company behind the magazine, announced Wednesday that they plan to take over 21,000-square-feet of space inside 55 Water St. for their latest Time Out Market, bringing 20 spots around the city under one roof.

"You'll eat meals from award-winning chefs, sip on refreshing cocktails, and take in breathtaking waterfront views and artistic performances all in one place," the group wrote in the announcement.

Time Out Market New York, one of several similar food halls the company is launching around the world, will have three bars, about 520 seats, a stage for performances, exhibition space and an outdoor rooftop.

The company opened their first food hall in Lisbon in 2014 with 26 eateries inside and it became the top tourist destination in the city on Trip Advisor. The group is also working on building similar spots in London, Miami, Boston and Chicago.
