Half Of Downtown Brooklyn Apartments Have A Pool, Study Shows
Downtown Brooklyn landed second on a list of NYC neighborhoods where tenants are most likely to get access to a pool.
DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — As the days heat up to record temperatures this week, Downtown Brooklynites might have an advantage to staying cool. A new study found that the neighborhood is the second most likely in New York City to give residents access to a pool in their building.
A new study by the researchers Localize.city found that nearly half of Downtown Brooklyn properties for sale as of Tuesday have access to a private pool. That number landed the neighborhood second only to Hudson Yards, where 73 percent of residential spots up for grabs are able to take a dip.
“In weather like this, it is certainly nice to live in a building with a pool, and such homes are more common in the five boroughs that you might think,” said Localize.city data scientist Noa Pasternak. “More than one out of every 10 homes for sale right now across the city — nearly 13 percent — have access to private pools.”

The report, based on data for the properties for sale, found that, by borough, the Bronx had the largest share of home listings with private pool access. More than a quarter of the homes for sale here had a pool. All of the top five most affordable home listings with pools the study found were also in the Bronx.
As far as other neighborhoods with pool access, Downtown Brooklyn was the only Brooklyn spot on the top 10 list. Most other spots were taken by Manhattan neighborhoods.

Researchers concluded that Downtown Brooklyn and other outer borough spots, like Long Island City, might have made the cut because of a "slew of new towers" that have gone up in recent years.
In these neighborhoods, the pool access is a mix of indoor and rooftop swimming areas.
The study only considered neighborhoods for the top 10 list where they could find at least 20 listings with private pool access.
