VIDEO: Hero Cyclist On Brooklyn Bridge Sings For People To Move Out Of His Way
Noam Osband went viral after belting the Star Wars theme to the lyrics of "You're in the Bike Line/You should please move."

BROOKLYN BRIDGE, NY — A cyclist explained why he went viral while singing on the Brooklyn Bridge: he figured out it was the best way to get people to move out of his way.
Noam Osband wrote in the Daily O on Monday that on New Year's Day 2017, he was in a "particularly good mood" because of a concert he had seen the night before. So he decided to sing — not yell — to people that they were walking in the bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Little did Osband know that a cyclist onlooker filmed his performance, and the whole spectacle was posted to Reddit, making it to the front page with hundreds of comments.

"I ride my bike everyday in NYC. I love it with one major exception: the Brooklyn Bridge," Osband wrote. "The prettiest bit of construction in New York is usually a Hobbesian nightmare as pedestrians and cyclists try to share a path built in the 19th century. The bike lane isn't well marked, and it's usually full of tourists looking at their phones to take a good photo."
Osband explained that his unusually good mood led to singing, which led to him discovering the most effective way to get pedestrians to budge.

"It was amazing; instead of tourists giving you stares of death, they broke into smiles of warmth. And more importantly, they moved out of the way."
Video captured Osband crooning "Bike lane/Don't stand in the Bike Lane/Bike lane/You should please move" first to the Star Wars theme melody, and then to a melody he could have only composed right there on the spot. His musicality and tone can be described as half-Bing-Crosby-half-Will-Ferrell-in-Stepbrothers.
