High-End Rehab Center Coming To DUMBO

Residents will have a private chef, aromatherapy sessions and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.

DUMBO, BROOKLYN — A rehab center that could double as a luxury hotel is opening in the neighborhood next month.

The Phoenix Life Center opening at 50 Jay Street on Sept. 5 will offer its recovering guests high-end amenities including an aromatherapy room, enclosed courtyard, rooftop gym and private chef from the Culinary Institute of America.

The recently renovated treatment center is just a block away from the shoreline and boasts sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.

These luxuries will not come cheap — a stay in the facility costs $18,500 per month — but according to Phoenix House President Ann Bray, it’s about half the price of similar programs.

"We brought all our clinicians across the country together and took out a white sheet of paper,” Bray told Crain’s New York Business, “and said, 'If we could build a program based on evidence every step of the client's journey, what would it look like?'"

The doctors came up with a daily regimen that includes monitored workouts, a menu of food which the center claims will reduce cravings, and technology that predicts relapses and alerts the patients’ doctors.

The treatment center will accept most forms of insurance except Medicaid, according to Bray.
