Jared Kushner's Brooklyn Heights Townhouse Sale Could Be Most Expensive In Neighborhood

A five-story townhouse he transformed into a single family home could go for $16 million.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Jared Kushner wouldn't be Donald Trump's right-hand-man if he wasn't on his way to setting a record for the most expensive sale of a home in Brooklyn Heights. His townhouse renovated for extreme luxury entered into contract on Tuesday, and if Kushner is able to sell the home for its current asking price — $16 million — it will be the most expensive sale of a home in the neighborhood.

The home at 27 Monroe Place, which used to be a Brooklyn Law School dorm, is up for surpassing Cobble Hill's 177 Pacific St., which sold for $15.5 million in June 2015, Brownstoner noted. The five-story fairy tale home was part of a massive purchase that Kushner made in 2014, buying six buildings from Brooklyn Law School for a total of $36.5 million. He transformed it back into a single family home, which it originally was, and sprinkled it with ostentation in the process. The historic home was built in 1844 and turned into apartments in 1919.

Kushner's real estate investments are peppered throughout Brooklyn Heights. In December, he bought a massive parking lot from the Jehovah's Witnesses on 85 Jay St. for a whopping $345 million. That's in addition to the $345 million he spent on five other Jehovah's Witnesses buildings in the neighborhood that he flipped into an office space now called Dumbo Heights.

Corcoran listed the Monroe Place home in July 2016 for $18 million and has since lowered the asking price. The listing on Realtor.com says the entire third floor is a master suite, and there's an elevator that travels to every floor.
