Plymouth Church Presents Award-Winning Author John Strausbaugh
The event takes place on September 23. John Strausbaugh is an expert on New York City history and culture.

On Sunday, September 23, Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights presents John Strausbaugh, author of the award-winning book City of Sedition: The History of New York City During the Civil War, to discuss the themes of his book. New York was a city of abolitionists and supporters of President Lincoln, but also of draft-dodgers, racists, and anti-war “Copperheads,” due in part to its deep business ties to the Cotton South.
Once serving as the “Grand Central Depot” of the Underground Railroad, Plymouth Church offers a unique setting for this discussion, and Mr. Strausbaugh’s insight will inspire a more nuanced and informed conversation about the city’s past. This event is free and open to the public.
