Pop-Up Piano Bar Heading To Downtown Brooklyn Plaza

The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership will host two pop-up piano bars at Willoughy Plaza with musicians Clare Cooper and Franca Vercelloni.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn plaza will be transformed into a piano bar this month with musicians taking requests at free concerts.

The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership announced a pop-up piano bar series at Willoughby Plaza featuring two pianists jumping on a piano installed at the spot.

The series kicks off Wednesday night with a performance by singer and songwriter Clare Cooper and continues on June 20 with long-time Marie's Crisis pianist Franca Vercelloni playing, the group announced.

The musicians will use theSing For Hope piano installed in the plaza for the public to play throughout the month. The instrument was painted by Shanghai-born artist Tango and is dubbed "I Have A Dream."

Sing For Hope sets up pianos painted by artists at various spots around the city throughout the summer and added 51 this year, according to the non-profit. The instruments will be set up until June 24.

The pop-up piano bars open at 5 p.m. and the concert lasts until 7:30 p.m., according to the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.
