SEE: 68-Story Condo Tower Becomes Brooklyn's Tallest Building

A look inside the 720-foot luxury Willoughby Street building that topped out this week, officially making it the tallest in the borough.

DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN -- Brooklyn officially has a new tallest building, though it might not stay the tallest for long.

A 68-story apartment complex being built at City Point topped out this week at 720 feet, making it the tallest in the borough, developers announced. The building, known as Brooklyn Point and found at 138 Willoughby Street, will offer 458 luxury condo units as early as 2020.

But the development might soon have some competition as Brooklyn's highest high-rise. At least two taller buildings just a few blocks away, one at 80 Flatbush Avenue and another at 625 Fulton Street, are in the works. Those buildings would be 820 feet and 942 feet tall, respectively.

But as both those developments make their way through the city's review process, Brooklyn Point's title is safe.

Developers, Extell Development Company, lauded the tower as a milestone for the borough's ability to compete with Manhattan's real estate market. The building is their first project in Brooklyn.

“The Brooklyn marketplace now competes with Manhattan and has significant demand for Extell quality homes," said Ari Alowan Goldstein, senior vice president of development at Extell. “We are experiencing tremendous success because our buyers appreciate the value of outstanding design, amenities, and unparalleled views coupled with the savings of a 25-year tax abatement.”

The new building offers a mix of studio to three-bedroom homes that include access to more than 40,000 square feet of amenities, including the highest residential infinity pool in the Western Hempisphere, developers said.

The rooftop also has a landscaped sundeck, outdoor dining areas, changing rooms, showers and an outdoor movie screening space.

Inside, there is a "comprehensive health and wellness facility" that includes a 65-foot indoor saltwater pool, a 35-foot rock climbing wall, a squash and basketball court and yoga, Pilates and cycling studios. A spa includes an infrared sauna, steam rooms and a hot tub.

Prices for the luxury condos start at $850,000.
