SEE: New Downtown BK Restaurant Will Offer First 100 Meals Free
Get to this new Mediterranean restaurant, the company's first in Brooklyn, early Thursday to get a free meal and join a nonprofit fundraiser
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN — A Mediterranean chain restaurant will open its first Brooklyn outpost this week, and give out a free meal to the first 100 customers who stop by.
CAVA, a Washington DC-based company, will officially open its doors Thursday morning at 345 Adams Street. It is the first in the borough but will join CAVA's six other restaurants in Manhattan.
The 2,025-square-foot space's first day won't be just a typical restaurant opening, but a "community day" including free meals and a donation collection for a city nonprofit, Grow to Learn.

"CAVA will kick-off the opening with a Community Day for the local Brooklyn area -- a tradition that started with the very first opening in 2011," the company said. "Throughout opening day, CAVA will collect donations for its community partner Grow to Learn, a NYC-based organization that creates green spaces where kids and teens can learn about urban gardening, sustainability, and healthy eating."
The new spot features customizable salads, grain bowls, and house-made juices, according to a release from CAVA. It has designed the new outpost to "meet the needs of the busy neighborhood" with 29 seats for dine-in guests and a designated pick up area for orders placed online with its CAVA app.

The first 100 customers will get a free meal starting at 10:45 a.m.
Some menu offerings will include its signature dishes like"Crazy Feta, Spicy Lamb meatballs" and "Cauliflower Quinoa Tabbouleh," but also some winter specials such as a medley of roasted vegetables, pearl couscous, roasted tomato soup with harissa and a date vinaigrette dressing.
CAVA was launched as a "culinary brand born out of the desire to share the Mediterranean way of life, bold flavors and innovative experiences in an accessible format," the company said. It was founded by three first-generation Greek Americans — Ted Xenohristos, Ike Grigoropoulos and Executive Chef Dimitri Moshovitis — and has more than 75 restaurants total.
