VIDEO: DUMBO Sugar Factory Gets Makeover

New renderings show that 10 Jay St. is getting a modern facelift.

DUMBO, BROOKLYN — By the end of 2017, DUMBO should be getting a new sugar refinery warehouse on the East River, at 10 Jay St. While the historic brick facades facing the street will be rehabbed, the entire side facing the river will be transformed into prism-like glass walls, according to new renderings from a new website promoting the building. The Landmarks Preservation Commission had to hold a vote in 2015 to approve construction on the warehouse, which was built in 1897.

The new renderings show a modern, glassy exterior and a spacious interior. Leasing plans on the building's website show that the 10-story building has leased its 46,000 square feet of office space and 4,000 square feet of retail space. It will come with 14-foot-high ceilings and a lawn for people to hang out.
