The banner, reading "Peacemaker," was flown from the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge on Thursday afternoon.
DUMBO, BROOKLYN — A large banner featuring the likeness of Russian President Vladimir Putin was unfurled on the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge on Thursday afternoon at about 2 p.m. The banner, with the word "Peacemaker" on it, was not immediately claimed by anyone.
An NYPD spokeswoman said the banner had been taken down at about 3 p.m. Police have taken nobody into custody and an investigation is underway.
A spokeswoman for the NYC Department of Transportation, which operates the bridge, said she was aware of the banner but referred questions to the NYPD.
