Women-Only 'Wonder Woman' Screening In Brooklyn Enrages Men On Twitter

Many men took to Twitter to accuse the Alamo Drafthouse of sexism and hypocrisy. Women took to their wallets and bought all the tickets.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A bunch of guys freaked out on Twitter when the Alamo Drafthouse announced it would offer a women-only screening of "Wonder Woman" in June.

The movie theater promoted the "Wonder Woman" screenings as a chance for women to embrace their girl power, “lasso” together the geeky lady friends and celebrate the iconic superhero’s first feature film, slated to open June 2.

This sentiment spurred outrage among the meninists — people who believe men are also victims of gender prejudice — and they took to Twitter to accuse the theater of sexism and hypocrisy.

Alamo Drafthouse responded by adding a third women-only screening to their calendar and posting a GIF of Wonder Woman punching a man so hard he flies into the ocean.

While men continued to ridicule the screening, in both Brooklyn and Austin, women responded by buying out all of the tickets. Once again, Alamo Drafthouse New York celebrated with a GIF.
