1 Arrested In String Of Hicksville, Westbury Burglaries: PD

Police said he was arrested on Duffy Avenue after his description was broadcast over police radio following a burglary on Saturday.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A 27-year-old man was taken in custody Saturday afternoon in Hicksville and charged with committing a string of five home burglaries throughout the area, and Westbury, in previous weeks, Nassau County police said.

Carlos Morinville, who does not have any known address, was arrested at about 3:25 p.m. after his description was broadcast following a burglary at a Meade Avenue home, according to detectives. Police said both patrol and K-9 unit officers took part in a search for Morinsville, who was later arrested at 300 Duffy Ave., where Nassau Candy, a candy distributor is located.

Bystanders reported that Morinville was found hiding under a truck, according to a photographer at the scene. Police could not confirm Morinsville’s exact arrest location.

Police said Morinville burglarized another two Hicksville homes — one on Barry Drive on March 24, and another on Princess Street on April 7. He also burglarized homes on Circle Drive and Mirabelle Avenue in Westbury on March 16 and April 8, respectively.

Morinville has been charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday in Mineola. If convicted on the top charge of second-degree burglary, he faces up to 15 years in state prison.
