2 Nassau Crashes Just Minutes Apart Leave 5 Hurt: Officials
Officials say two crashes left a combined five people hurt Friday.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Two crashes that happened within minutes of each other Friday afternoon in Hicksville left a combined five people hurt, officials said.
The first crash happened around 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Duffy Avenue. The Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the wreck along with the Jericho Volunteer Fire Department, which was also called for an additional ambulance. Two people were hurt and taken to hospitals.
While firefighters worked the crash, they received a second report of a crash about five minutes away. Hicksville volunteer firefighters were sent to that crash at Old Country and New South roads just after 1 p.m. The Bethpage Fire Department was called to help that wreck.

Three people were hurt in the second crash. Nassau County police ambulances took them away from the scene. The westbound side of Old Country Road was closed for about 30 minutes.
