Armed Man Robs 2 Near Westbury LIRR Station: Police

Authorities are seeking help in identifying the suspected robber.

Two men were robbed at gunpoint near the Long Island Rail Road train station in Westbury on Wednesday morning, police say.

According to authorities, two men, ages 44 and 29, were walking on Union Avenue, near the Westbury train station, when they were approached by an unknown man from behind at 12:35 a.m.

The man displayed a black handgun and demanded money while pressing the gun to the 44-year-old man's stomach area, police say. The 44-year-old man handed over his wallet which contained no money.

The robber, angered by the moneyless wallet, then hit the man in his right ear with the gun, police say. The 29 year old man handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the 43-year-old then handed over two credit cards to the robber, police say.

The robber then fled on foot across Union Avenue into the train station parking lot. The men called 911 for Third Precinct police to respond. The 44-year-old man suffered pain to his right ear and refused medical attention at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police described the robber as Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, and wearing a blue ski mask, black jacket and black pants.
