Arrest Made In Foiled Scam Of 87-Year-Old Nassau Woman: Cops

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Bronx man has been arrested after police said he tried to scam an 87-year-old Hicksville woman out of thousands of dollars.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, a stranger called the woman and said her son had been arrested, police said. She would have to pay $6,350 to bail him out. The woman called police and officers went to her Croyden Avenue home.

Jose Rosario, 28, came to collect the money and he was placed into custody without incident, police said.

Rosario faces a charge of 3rd-degree attempted grand larceny. He was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Mineola court.
