HICKSVILLE, NY — A generator failure at the old Grumman plant in Hicksville caused an explosion that rocked the surrounding residential neighborhood, shaking houses in its wake on Thursday morning, Nassau County police said.

Police said that at about 11 a.m. a generator failed at a tower station inside Bethpage Business Park off South Broadway, which is near Grumman Studios, causing structural damage to the building. No one was injured in the explosion, and there was no fire or release of chemicals involved, police said. Police dispatchers received numerous calls from residents about the explosion.

No further information was immediately available from police.
