Long Island Weather: Freezing Rain, Accumulating Snow This Week
Hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes Monday. Another snowstorm arrives later in the week.

LONG ISLAND, NY — If you enjoyed last week's snow and ice, we've got some great news for you. Freezing rain is in the forecast Monday and later in the week we could see another snowstorm on Long Island.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 5 a.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Pockets of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle will produce a light glaze at times. A steadier period of freezing rain is likely Monday night before it changes to the normal variety of rain, the National Weather Service says.
A tenth of an inch of ice could cover roadways and cause treacherous travel conditions for the Monday morning and evening commutes. Power outages are also possible.

Another chance for wintry weather arrives on Thursday. The NWS pegs the current odds at 80 percent for Long Island to see snow.
"There are still some uncertainties to iron out, especially the track of the low, but models do appear to bring at least some accumulating snow Thursday morning, as moisture from the system overruns the cold air from the high, before a change over to a wintry mix, then to rain along the coast Thursday night, which will continue into Friday," the weather service's New York office said in a forecast discussion Sunday evening.
