Hicksville LIRR Saturday Service To Be Suspended Once More
The MTA will once again suspend Long Island Rail Road service Saturday between New Hyde Park and Hicksville.

HICKSVILLE, NY — The MTA will suspend Long Island Rail Road service Saturday between New Hyde Park and Hicksville, the last planned suspension as part of the agency's "state-of-good-repair" efforts.
Work to replace switches at Nassau Interlocking in New Hyde Park began Sept. 7 and was to continue two out of three weekends. This is the third of the three weekends slated for work, the MTA said. To allow the work to proceed, train service will be halted between Hicksville and New Hyde Park for 24 hours so crews can remove two tracks from service.
Huntington, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma travelers heading west will have to take a train to Hicksville, then board a shuttle train to Babylon, for train connections. Eastbound customers will do the reverse.

"There will be NO TRAIN SERVICE at New Hyde Park, Merillon Avenue, Westbury or Carle Place for 24 hours – and Mineola will only be served by trains operating to/from Oyster Bay," the MTA said. "Busing will be available between Mineola and Hempstead, and Hempstead Branch service will be increased from hourly to half-hourly."
For the second 24-hour period one track will be restored and service will be available, the MTA said, though trains will operate less frequently.
