HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville man has been nabbed by detectives for two knifepoint robberies — one in 2017, the other in 2018 — at Hicksville businesses, Nassau County police said.
Detectives said Juan Carlos Ortiz, 27, flashed a knife and made off with money from a 53-year-old clerk working behind the counter at Spirits Wine and Liquor on East Old Country Road back in January 2018. He also flashed a knife in a robbery in December 2017 at Citgo Gas Station on South Broadway, police said. No one was injured in either robbery.
Ortiz was charged with first-and-third-degree robbery, both felonies, on Thursday.
