HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville High School senior has been tapped to participate in the virtual Students Inside Albany Government Educational Conference, Hicksville school district officials said.

Omika Samlall will represent the East Nassau chapter of the League of Women Voters at the May conference, which brings together high school students from across the state to learn about New York’s government, according to a news release.

The program will start with a presentation on New York Youth Civics Initiatives and students will listen in on panels that discuss the importance of voting and media influences on public policy, school district officials said. The conference also gives students the chance to attend a legislative session and to meet with legislators from their own district in breakout rooms, according to school district officials.
