Hicksville Teacher Wins $1,000 In Art Supplies From Donors Choose

Lee Avenue Elementary teacher Staci Kolinsky can now give art paper and paints to students who can't share supplies due to COVID-19.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Lee Avenue Elementary School art teacher Staci Kolinsky was awarded over $1,000 in art supplies for her students through the non-profit Donors Choose, according to a Hicksville School District news release.

Kolinsky’s students have not been able to share art supplies because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but now she will be providing hundreds of individual oil pastels and watercolor sets to her students to help them “increase their artistic capabilities,” school district officials said.

Donors Choose, which allows people to donate to classroom projects, has a mission to ensure students in every community have the tools they need for a great education, according to district officials.
