Lee Avenue School Community Helps Needy Families Over Holidays

Eight local families were delivered toys and $25 Target gift card over the holidays, and three families were given food at Thanksgiving.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Lee Avenue Elementary School partnered up with the Hicksville Gardens Civic Association on a toy drive benefiting eight local families who could use some extra help over the holidays, according to a news release.

The benefit, which was run in conjunction with Hicksville community members Chris Mirro and Nick Mirro, also raised enough money so that each family could receive a $25 gift card to Target, the news release stated. The benefit came on the heels of a food drive which fed three Lee Avenue families over Thanksgiving in November.

Organizers said they are grateful for the community support in making the holiday season a little brighter for families.
