LI Candy Wholesaler Acquires Assets Of Pennsylvania Dutch Candies

Nassau Candy added popular nostalgic confections and novelty items, including 1.5-ounce tins of "Bob Ross Happy Little Tree Mints."

HICKSVILLE, NY — A candy-maker and wholesaler based in Hicksville just sweetened its offerings.

Nassau Candy, which makes and sells confectionery, gourmet food, and private label/custom souvenir products, said Wednesday it acquired the assets of Pennsylvania Dutch Candies, a national manufacturer and distributor of popular nostalgic confections and novelty items. Nassau Candy said the move will increase its sales presence across the country, add merchandise, and grow its custom products.

Nassau Candy sells countless tasty sweets, such as bulk orders of gumballs, Air Heads, lollipops, licorice, taffy, butterscotch and Tootsie Rolls.

Under the company's new Pennsylvania Dutch Candies section of its website, candies such as Andes Mints, various caramel products, and Baby Bottle Pops are available for order. Customers can even get "Bob Ross Happy Little Tree Mints," which come in 1.5-ounce tins.

Pennsylvania Dutch Candies, a subsidiary of the Warrell Corporation based in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, specializes in nostalgic products and supplies unique, in-store candy and food displays. The company has served customers coast to coast for more than five decades, with customers including restaurants, tourist attractions, zoos, ice cream parlors and gift shops.

Andrew Reitman, president of Nassau Candy South, said in a news release his company is excited to bring an "established, nostalgic brand like Pennsylvania Dutch Candies" into the fold.

"Their line of wholesome, old-fashioned confections and unique merchandising displays add a retro, old general store feel to any business," Reitman said. "Our customers will love these new additions while Pennsylvania Dutch Candies’ current customers will enjoy access to our extensive lines of confections and personalized gifts."

Existing customers with Pennsylvania Dutch Candies will have access to Nassau Candy's distribution capabilities and stock of novelty, nostalgic, and specialty products, the company said. Meanwhile, Nassau Candy's in-store merchandising and display offerings will grow, and current customers will now gain access to Pennsylvania Dutch Candies’ popular old-fashioned sweets. Nassau Candy also plans to launch a broad range of custom products through Pennsylvania Dutch Candies and its AmuseMints division.

Nassau Candy in March acquired the natural product sales and distributor Island Natural.
