Shooting At Nassau 7-Eleven Leaves 1 Injured

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Bethpage man was arrested Saturday night after police say he shot another man at a Hicksville 7-Eleven.

According to police, officers responded to the 7-Eleven at 413 Jerusalem Ave. at 10:45 p.m. for reports of multiple shots fired. Police say that 18-year-old Mathew Escarria, of N. 3rd Street, got out of his car and fired five shots at a man inside the store, hitting him once in the right hip. Escarria then fled.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover from his wound.

Police located Escarria and placed him under arrest without incident.

Escarria is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today.
