BREAKING: Officials warned the water in homes could be discolored and advised residents to let the water run until it clears.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A water main broke on Duffy Avenue, near the intersection of Loretta Lane, in Hicksville at about 10 a.m., Hicksville Water District officials announced in a Facebook post.
Officials warned that water service could be temporarily impacted for water district customers with homes near the break and advised them that they could also experience discolored water.
The discoloration is temporary and easily corrected by letting cold water run for about a minute or two until it is clear, according to water district officials.
