Mortgage rates remain historically low, but rising home prices combined with a dwindling supply aren't making things all that easy for homebuyers on Long Island.
The closed median home price in Nassau was $500,000 in October, a 6.4 percent year-over-year increase, according to the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island. In Suffolk, the closed median home price was $360,000 last month, a 6.2 percent increase from October 2016.
The total number of homes for sale on Long Island in October was 15,654, representing a 9.1 percent decrease over last year.
