2 Hospitalized, 17 Displaced After Massive Islip Terrace Blaze

The fire broke out Saturday and took over two hours to put out.

ISLIP TERRACE, NY — Two women were hospitalized and 17 residents were displace following a massive fire at an Islip Terrace multi-family home early Saturday, according to Suffolk police.

The blaze broke out at the Carleton Ave. home at about 12:34 a.m. Police say all 17 residents from eight apartments safely evacuated the home. The two women were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Islip Terrace Fire Department responded along with mutual aid from the East Islip, Central Islip, Islip and East Brentwood fire departments.

Firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
