3 Town Of Islip Beaches Closed To Bathing
The beach was shut down due to high levels bacteria.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY - A Town of Babylon beach as well as 3 Town of Islip beaches were closed down on Monday, according to the Suffolk County Department of Health.
The following beaches were shut down to bathing due to high levels bacteria:
- Tanner Park Beach in Amityville
- West Oaks Recreation Club Beach in Oakdale
- Bayport Beach in Bayport
- Sayville Marina Park Beach in Sayville
In addition the following beaches remain closed to bathing due to the findings of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria:

- Venetian Shores Beach in Babylon
- Islip Town Beach at Lake Ronkonkoma
- Knollwood Beach Association Beach in Huntington
- Huntington Beach Community Association Beach
- Centerport Yacht Club Beach
- Valley Grove Beach in Huntington
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
Beaches will reopen when further testing reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels. Fleets Cove Beach in the Town of Huntington has reopened.
