Duo Arrested After Crash That Left Mercedes Perched on Pole
Police say the Mercedes was going 105 mph on the Southern State before the crash. Two men face felony drug charges.

ISLIP, NY – State Police have released details on a crash last week that ended with a Mercedes perched on a telephone pole. Two men face felony drug charges.
According to police, troopers attempted to pull over a 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350 that was going 105 mph on the eastbound Southern State Parkway, west of Route 111, around 1:25 p.m. on March 11.
The driver of the Mercedes, 21-year-old Stanley Joiner, attempted to flee and after a short pursuit off the parkway, Joiner lost control of the car and crashed at the intersection of Spur Drive South and Broadway in Islip, police said. The car became immobilized on a telephone pole guy-wire .

Joiner and 20-year-old Starrief Green jumped out of the car and fled on foot, police said.

Joiner was quickly taken into custody by the pursuing trooper in a nearby backyard and Green was apprehended by a Suffolk Police K-9 officer in a backyard following a neighborhood search, police said. An investigation determined Joiner and Green, both of Wyandanch, were in possession of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl, police said.

Joiner and Green are each charged with four counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and obstructing governmental administration.
Joiner is also charged with second degree criminal mischief, second degree reckless endangerment third degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment of property.
Joiner and Green were arraigned on March 12 and are being held on $250,000 bond or $100,000 bail.
