Firefighters Battle Garage Fire in Islip
Quick work by firefighters Tuesday stopped the fire from spreading to a home.

At 6:16 p.m. on Tuesday, the Islip Fire Department was notified to respond to a report of a garage fire at 31 Willow Ave. Upon arrival of Chief Butler, a working fire was transmitted for an active fire in a 2-car detached garage.
Islip crews quickly extinguished the fire which slightly extended to a boat in the driveway but did not spread to the home. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the East Islip Fire Department for an engine company to standby. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.
