Frank Jones, Former Town Of Islip Supervisor, Dies At 88

Jones served as supervisor between 1987 and 1993.

ISLIP, NY - Frank R. Jones, former Town of Islip supervisor, died on Friday. He was 88.

Jones served as supervisor between 1987 and 1993. He passed away at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

Flags in the Town of Islip will be flying at half-staff in his honor, officials announced on Tuesday.

"One of Frank R. Jones' many accomplishments was saving the Sayville Beach at Foster Avenue from future development, so that generations of Islip residents could enjoy this local treasure," Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a statement. "I am grateful that last year, Frank Jones was able to be with us for the Town's dedication of the Supervisor Frank R. Jones Beach at Sayville Marina Park in his honor."
