Islip High School Clubs Raise Funds For Vets With Walk-A-Thon
Students raised more than $1,000 for the Islip American Legion Rusy Bohm Post No. 411 Auxiliary.

Islip High School’s Junior Chamber of Commerce Club and Interact Club participated in the American Legion Virtual Walk-A-Thon for veterans, raising more than $1,000 for the Islip American Legion Rusy Bohm Post No. 411 Auxiliary. All of the proceeds from this annual event are donated to veterans’ organizations such as Operation Comfort Warriors and Stop Soldier Suicide as well as hospitalized veterans in New York State.

After classes on April 14, the clubs walked to the U.S. Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Main Street, where they met veterans and presented them with the collected donations. Joining the students were Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, American Legion Auxiliary President Paulette DeCrescenzo; American Legion Vice President Joanne Johnson and Islip High School teacher Renee Clock.
