Islip Town Celebrates Hanukkah With Menorah Lighting

ISLIP, NY - Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter alongside Town Council Members John C. Cochrane, Jr. and James P. O’Connor, were joined by Rabbi Dr. Steven Moss of the B'Nai Israel Reform Temple of Oakdale on the front lawn of Town Hall for the annual Islip Town Menorah Lighting Ceremony.
Rabbi Moss officiated the ceremony, which included prayer and the singing of Rock of Ages and the Dreidel Song.

The Menorah lighting marked the start of Hanukkah, which began at sunset on Sunday, December 2nd.

The celebration was joined by Town Clerk Olga Murray, Receiver of Taxes Alexis Weik, DPW and Parks Commissioner Tom Owens, Director of Personnel Arthur Abbate, and Deputy Parks Commissioners Deirdre Wahlberg and Carol Charchalis.
