The Latest on Weekend Snow Threat

Are you hoping for snow this weekend? Check out the latest forecast.

For those hoping for a major snowstorm this weekend, things aren't looking great.

"Just about all of the models have trended the system further south over the last several runs, with a glancing blow at best that would bring light snow to Long island and only minor accumulations," Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News, wrote on his website Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service says there's a 40 percent chance of snow Saturday night and Sunday. At the moment, there's the potential for a coating to an inch or two of accumulation.

But, it's still Wednesday, and plenty can change in the coming days.

"A shift in the storm track of a mere 50 miles would bring Long Island into some heavier snow," Cioffi said.
