Man Killed In Sagtikos Parkway Crash

The 33-year-old was hospitalized with serious injuries and later died from his injuries Friday night, police said.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — An East Patchogue man was killed in a crash on the Sagtikos Parkway Friday night, according to State police.

A 21-year-old Islip man was traveling southbound in the right lane on the parkway when his car, a 2010 Nissan Altima, was struck by a 1995 Nissan 240SX driven by a Jaime Coriano, 33, of East Patchogue, north of the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Islip, at around 9:39 p.m., police said.

The collision caused both cars to leave the roadway and crash into the trees on the right shoulder, police said.

Coriano suffered serious injuries and was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he died of his injuries, police said. The Islip man was transported to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision is still under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with any information to call (631) 756-3300.
