New 'California Style' Eatery Opens in Islip

Sunset Restaurant, located at the Islip town beach, may be closed down for the season -- but a new restaurant has opened in its place.

Sal Cataldo and Christine Kim, the owners of the popular local restaurant, have recently opened the Beach Bowl Acai Cafe to take the place of Sunset Restaurant for those who enjoy "fast, healthy and inexpensive meals," according to a report in Newsday.

Guests who enjoyed Sunset's baked crab, blueberry pancake, breakfast pizza and lobster rolls can now enjoy them year-round at Beach Bowl.

In addition, the "California-style" eatery offers custom acai bowls, burritos, burgers, salads and more. They also offer all day breakfast as well as beer and wine.

"You may feel like you are in Greenport, Montauk or the Hamptons but you are closer to home in Islip," the restaurant's Facebook page reads.

The Beach Bowl Acai Cafe is located on 454 Main Street and is open from every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
