New Gym Aims To Help Islip Gym-Goers Achieve Real Results
Results Gym in Islip Terrace opened last month, and offers members technological innovations to help them get fit.
ISLIP TERRACE, NY — A new independent, full-service gym hopes to give Islip residents a comprehensive home for their fitness goals. Results Gym opened Feb. 18 in Islip Terrace in a former gym at 840 Connetquot Ave.
Robert Kay, of Sayville, worked in the gym industry for years before deciding to open his new business. Starting at age 18, he worked at various Retro Fitness locations across Long Island, including working as a janitor and co-owning several gyms. Kay also has a consulting business where he helps struggling gyms.
Results Gym, named after the gym's mission, customizes fitness plans for its members, tracks workouts and results and offers personal interactions with trainers and staff. Members receive a 3-D body scan and workouts on the cardio machine are tracked through accounts and sent to a third-party app.

"That's the reason we named the gym Results," he told Patch "We create an avatar with your BMI, and review them on a monthly basis."
Standard memberships are $45 and include one initial body screening and an hour introduction with a certified personal trainer, while the higher tier membership is $55 and adds additional monthly body scans and feedback from the trainers on progress and workout plans.

Kay hopes to eventually franchise his model but for now he's happy to have had a strong initial response in the town of Islip, where he said he's grown up and wanted to give back to the community.
The gym has a range of cardio equipment, weights — with dumbbells up to 200 pounds, which is rare, Kay said — and classes, both live and virtual in case members can't make the gym's group classes.
"Where we really break the mold, I think, is that there's always a trainer on staff, we are always available to ask questions. We are constantly tweaking [members'] workouts and diets to get them where they need to go."
