Active Police Investigation After Islip Crash

ISLIP, NY - A crash in Islip shut down a portion of Broadway on Monday afternoon.

The Islip Fire Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Broadway and Spur Drive South at about 2 p.m.

A vehicle struck a telephone pole and broke a natural gas line.

There is also an active police investigation in the area.

Broadway is currently closed in both directions between Spur Drive South and 41st Street.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

Firefighters have left the scene but say the road may be closed for a long period for National Grid to conduct work.

Both Suffolk Police and State Police also responded to the scene.
