Beth Fazio’s science students in Nicole Cuomo and Jen Scheriff’s fifth-grade class at Islip’s Sherwood Elementary School recently investigated how to separate a food dye mixture using chromatography. In addition to having fun, the students explained how the experiment worked after they explored the properties of molecules in their current science unit.
