Shred Day is a free event held annually on weekends in the spring and fall, whereby residents can dispose of confidential papers such as bank statements, medical records, tax bills and other documents. “This is a great opportunity for residents to prevent their personal information from reaching the wrong hands and compromising the security of their identities, finances or personal property,” said Supervisor Carpenter.
Documents were shredded on site at the Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility in Holbrook, with the help of Iron Mountain, a secure shredding service. Overall, the Town shredded a total of 20,000 pounds of paper collected from 415 cars that passed through.
