Town Of Islip Officials Preparing For Expected Snowfall

Long Island is expected to get several inches of snow overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY - Town of Islip officials are preparing for the snowfall expected to hit the area overnight Monday.

The National Weather Service is predicting that two inches of snow is expected to fall beginning at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, before turning to rain midday Tuesday.

It is expected to become a wintery mix of snow and rain between 10 am and 12 noon Tuesday.

In conjunction with the mix of snow and rain, temperatures will rise through the day to a high around 39 degrees.

Winds will remain around 20 mph with gusts over 30 mph from the afternoon into the evening hours.

In anticipation of the snow, crews already been out brining town roads since 7 a.m. Monday.

Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter urges residents to exercise caution when traveling during potentially hazardous conditions.
